Brain Awareness Week in Oldenburg – evening event on hearing loss in old age

13.03.2025

13 March 2025, 6:30 – 9:30 pm
Schlaues Haus Oldenburg, Schloßplatz 16, 26122 Oldenburg

The Department of Psychology at the University of Oldenburg is taking part in this year’s Brain Awareness Week with three public events. The international action week takes place every year in March with the aim of raising awareness of the brain and neurological diseases, as well as providing fascinating insights into brain research.

On March 13, the focus will be on the topic “The hearing brain – hearing loss in old age” with a film screening followed by a discussion. The French comedy Hear Me Out (On est fait pour s’entendre, FR, 2021, 94 min.) humorously shows how unnoticed hearing loss can affect relationships and participation in life. Antoine, a teacher, not only fails to hear the sounds in his environment, but also the needs of those around him – until a new neighbor and a diagnosis confront him with his hearing loss.

After the film, researchers from the Department of Psychology and the University Medicine Oldenburg invite you to a discussion round to talk about how to deal with hearing loss in old age.
