Auditory Modelling and Performance Prediction
As a prerequisite and important ingredient of the “Virtual Hearing Clinic”, the basic relation between auditory functions in the individual subject or patient needs to be established based on a solid theoretical framework. This should allow for predicting the performance with different options of hearing devices in order to objectively support the rehabilitation process both for the “virtual” and the “real” hearing clinic. This project deals with auditory modelling for normal and hearing-impaired listeners with and without a hearing device and extends the techniques towards electrical hearing and the combination of acoustic and electric hearing.
The models and prediction methods will be developed and tailored to be incorporated into the Virtual Hearing Clinic in RT II. They will also be used to develop model-based precision medicine diagnostic methods in RT III.
